Administrative Assistant, A.A.S.

The Administrative Computer Technology department offers a three-level certificate program followed by the Administrative Assistant AAS degree.  These certificates and degrees are designed to meet the needs of students who primarily seek employment skills.  The Administrative Assistant AAS is the fourth step in a ladder of three successive certificates—-Office Technician, 18 hours; Administrative Systems Specialist I, 30 hours; and Administrative Systems Specialist II, 45 hours followed by the 60-hour AAS degree.  The program provides a solid foundation in general education and the depth in technical skills needed in the changing office environment.  The overall focus of the computer classes in Administrative Technology is to provide students with quality instruction and many hours of “hands-on” experience at the computer.  Students will be taught software packages that are currently used in the workplace.

The student is encouraged to carefully examine requirements at the transfer institution.  Requirements vary from institution to institution and can change from one year to the next.

In ACT Programs, once mathematics competency has been proven by scoring a minimum of 85 on the Math Accuplacer, students may substitute a natural science course for the mathematics.
