The Interpreter Training Program at San Antonio College is designed to provide quality interpreter education by offering a comprehensive series of classes including, but not limited to American Sign Language, Deaf Awareness, and Deaf Culture.

The Trilingual Interpreter Advanced Technical Certificate was created to strengthen an interpreter’s skill who is currently utilizing the three languages of ASL, English and spoken Spanish in their professional work.  This certificate was also designed to offer training to interpreters who would like to utilize these three languages, or to add to their existing skills.

The Trilingual Interpreter Advanced Technical Certificate requires a minimum language proficiency in both American Sign Language and Spanish.  The respective departments will administer language placement tests.  Please note prerequisites listed in the course descriptions.

Interpreters with a minimum of Level I or Basic certification without a degree or formal education with an interpreter training program may be eligible to immediately begin the certificate classes without satisfying San Antonio College’s requirements for an Associate’s degree in Interpreter Training.  Students are required to meet with an advisor in the Department of American Sign Language and Interpreter Training prior to enrolling in any of the certificate classes.
