Emergency Medical Technician / Paramedic, A.A.S.


This course of study prepares students to become well rounded, competent entry level Paramedics, able to provide advanced life support in a wide variety of emergencies. An AAS Degree is required for paramedics who wish to obtain the Licensed Paramedic from the Texas Department of State Health Services. In addition, an AAS degree has been shown to be advantageous in hiring and promotional processes. Some fire and EMS agencies offer incentive pay for AAS degree holders.

With this award, you may seek jobs such as:

Firefighter/Fire Officer, ER Technician, Private Ambulance Provider, Municipal EMS, Industrial Medic, Offshore Paramedic, Flight paramedic

Students must have EMT - Basic National Registry prior to applying for the EMT - Paramedic program.

Student must complete MDCA 1313 Medical Terminology  and BIOL 2404 with a grade of “C” or better prior to enrollment in the program.

  3. Click here to complete the Online Emergency Medical Technician Application for consideration.
  4. Once you have completed the online application, an automatic email will be sent to you indicating the dates and time of the session.  Please check your ALAMO.EDU email.
  5. After the informational session, each student will be advised individually.  Plan your time accordingly; sessions may last all day.
