Associate of Arts, concentration in Journalism

Some four-year institutions may not accept all courses in the major field of study as part of their Baccalaureate Degree Program. Students should check with the Department of Media Communications, the Department of Counseling and Student Development, or the four-year institution to which they plan to transfer for information.

Students may earn the AA degree in Journalism by either completing the entire two years of any journalism curriculum identified in the current 2+2 transfer agreement or by completing the degree requirements listed below.

Mathematics: 3 Credit Hours

Select 1 course from the Mathematics (20) Core 

Natural Sciences: 7 Credit Hours

Select 2 from the Natural Sciences (30) Core 
One must include a lab (4 credit hours).

Humanities & Visual/Performing Arts: 9 Credit Hours

Select 1 any sophomore-level Literature (English) course
from the Humanities (40) Core 

Select 1 from the Additional Humanities (41) Core 

Select 1 from the Visual and Performing Arts (50) Core 

Kinesiology/Dance: 2 Credit Hours

Select from the Kinesiology (90)  Core

Additional Requirements: Minimum of 15 Credit Hours
