Associate of Arts, concentration in Photography

Students seeking an Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Photography must be advised in the Photography Program in the Department of Media Communications.

Some four-year institutions may not accept all courses in the major as part of their Baccalaureate Degree program. Students should check with the Department of Media Communications or the four-year institution to which they plan to transfer for information.

Students may earn the Associate of Arts degree with a concentration in Photography by completing the degree requirements listed below or may earn the Associate of Arts-Transfer Curriculum degree by completing the entire two years of any Photography curriculum identified in a current 2+2 transfer agreement with a senior institution.

Communication (10) Core (6 credit hours)


Additional Communication (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Additional Communication (11) Core 

Mathematics (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Mathematics (20) Core 

Natural Sciences (6 credit hours)


Select 2 courses from the Natural Sciences (30) Core 

Humanities (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Humanities (40) Core 

Additional Humanities (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Additional Humanities (41) Core 

Visual and Performing Arts (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Visual and Performing Arts (50) Core 

History (6 credit hours)


Select 2 courses from the History (60) Core 

Government (6 credit hours)


Select 2 courses from the Government (70) Core 

Social and Behavioral Sciences (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Social and Behavioral Sciences (80) Core

A course may be used only once to fulfill degree requirements.

The student is encouraged to carefully examine requirements at the transfer institution.  Requirements vary from institution to institution and can change from one year to the next.
