Return to: Programs and Courses - Nursing Education The Nursing Career Mobility Program Track (LVN to RN and Military to RN) is an accelerated pathway to an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Nursing. Nursing courses are taught over three consecutive semesters. Those eligible for entry include the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and the Military trained corpsman or medic. The nursing theory didactic courses are held online. The co-requisite clinical courses are held face to face in San Antonio Texas. Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) meet the LVN to RN entry requirements by virtue of their graduation from an accredited Vocational Nursing program and licensure as an LVN. This program has been successful in meeting the evolving challenges presented to RN’s in the modern healthcare system.
Those completing the Basic Medical Technician Corpsman program (Navy and Air Force) and the Army Combat Medic program within the last 10 years make up the Military to RN group. Earning an AAS degree in Nursing through the Career Mobility Track program can help the graduates apply their military medical knowledge and vast real-world clinical experience - often gained under combat conditions while assuming responsibility for multiple healthcare protocols - and begin a career as an RN, expand their job/promotion opportunities/options, and allow them to articulate to a baccalaureate degree program in nursing.
Note: An additional 8 hours of credits (RNSG 1171, RNSG, 1271, RNSG 1471, RNSG 1161) will be granted for the Career Mobility student upon admission and completion of the first 6 nursing course credits (RNSG 2371, RNSG 1172, RNSG 1170, RNSG 1163) in the Nursing Career Mobility Program.
