The Court Reporting Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) A.A.S. degree prepares a Court Reporting Program student to use machine shorthand to capture speech at a speed of 225 words per minute and transcribe notes with 97% accuracy. The student is prepared to take the CSR and RPR certification exams at the completion of the competencies. The degree also serves as the required teaching credential once the student has served three years as a Certified Shorthand Reporter.
A course may be used only once to fulfill degree requirements.
The student is encouraged to carefully examine requirements at the transfer institution. Requirements vary from institution to institution and can change from one year to the next.
