Court Reporting: Computer Aided Transcription Technology, Level II Certificate


The Court Reporting Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) Level 2 Certificate is a continuation of the Court Reporting: Transcriptionis/Scopist Level I Certificate. The Court Reporting Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) Level 2 Certificate  prepares a Court Reporting Program student to use machine shorthand to capture speech at a speed of 225 words per minute and transcribe notes with 97% accuracy. The student is prepared to take the state-level CSR (Certified Shorthand Reporter) and the national-level RPR (Registered Professional Reporter) certification exams at the completion of the competencies. Upon passing the CSR, the student can: (1) work as an official Court Reporter in court or (2) can work as a freelance reporter (taking depositions) for a court reporting firm.
