President’s Message

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to San Antonio College!

Since 1925, San Antonio College (SAC) has provided students with a top-notch, quality education. Still today, nearly 90 years after we opened our doors to the community, San Antonio College offers a diverse class selection, affordable tuition, small class sizes, respected faculty and 11 exemplary programs.

As president, it is my job to ensure that every student who seeks an education is given ample opportunity to be successful. As part of the Alamo Colleges District, we are charged by the Alamo Community College District Board of Trustees and the Chancellor, Dr. Bruce Leslie, to meet the needs of our growing community. Each day, our incredible faculty and staff work together to achieve Student Success.

Our focus expands not only to degree-seeking students who intend to transfer to a four-year university, but to students who are seeking job training, self-enrichment and professional development. On average, SAC serves about 24,000 students each semester. Being the second largest higher education institution in San Antonio, we are proud of our diverse student body. Student of all ages come to us from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, countries, and states.

On any given day during the academic year, you will find an array of events, activities, service opportunities and more happening all around campus and in our community. I urge you to participate and experience all San Antonio College has to offer.

Being President of San Antonio College is a big job, but it is a highly rewarding position too. I am honored to be at the helm of this great institution, and I look forward to many years to come.

Go Rangers!

Dr. Robert H. Vela, Jr., President
