Engineering Technologies

The Department offers two programs related to Engineering Technologies:  Computer Aided Drafting and Design and Surveying Technology.  These programs have been designed in cooperation with an advisory committee of local business and industry representatives.

Computer-aided drafting (CAD), also known as computer -aided drafting and design (CADD), is the use of computer technology for the process of producing plans, diagrams, and presentations for residential, commercial, and industrial development.  Our program includes both architectural drafting courses for building construction documentation and mechnanical drafting for civil and industrial infrastructure as well as machine compenents.  San Antonio College offers a Level I Certificate in Computer Aided Drafting Operations and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in General Computer Aided Drafting Technology.

The Surveying Technology program is designed to prepare students for entry level positions in the field of surveying as well as to help those already in the field increase their knowledge and eligibility for promotion.  Students will gain a professional knowledge of computer use and network file management, and be able to use AutoCAD and other software to create drawings utilized in land development and construction.
