The Journalism Program combines theoretical understanding of the role of journalism in a free society and extensive hands-on training to prepare students for success in rapidly changing fields in mass media.  Coursework and student media allow students to gain experience and build portfolios.  The Field of Study in journalism provides the foundation for jobs in newspaper, radio, television, magazines, Internet publications, photojournalism, documentary, filmmaking, public relations and advertising.  Journalism skills prepare students for success in many additional fields, such as law, business, entertainment and public policy.
