Additional Program Information
The Enhanced Certificate in Educational Interpreting is geared for those individuals who want to work as an interpreter in an educational setting. The first course SLNG 2315 - Interpreting in Educational Settings provides students with an overview of the role of an educational interpreter including current practices, trends, legislation, and ethical issues. The second course SLNG 2403 - Transliterating is a practice-oriented course designed to develop skills necessary for rendering spoken English to a signed English format and signed English to spoken English. Either of these courses may be taken as part of the enhanced certificate, a directed elective, or simply for personal and professional enrichment. Certified interpreters may use these courses to satisfy continuing education requirements.
