These individuals must complete DSHS approved college courses. Upon completion of the required course work the individual can apply for reinstatement of their counselor intern status; and must meet any additional DSHS requirements to obtain their license as a chemical dependency counselor within 3 years of intern reinstatement. The student is responsible for confirming acceptance of certificate courses with DSHS. Students may have to provide a copy of their initial registration letter or show prior test scores and/or that they have completed the education requirements for initial licensure. Students enrolling in this certificate program must meet the basic skill prerequisites set by the department.
