The Fire Service Leadership Program reflects the assessed needs of the community for careers in the fire service and in fire service management. The curricula are designed to prepare students for initial career preparation, career development, and for foundations leading to university transfer credit.
To receive academic credit for transfer courses or advanced standing for certification through TCFP, the student must be enrolled in the AAS Degree Program in Fire Service Leadership or Fire Science / Firefighting with an Emphasis in Homeland Security and successfully complete a minimum of 12 semester hours in fire technology courses. The curricula of the Fire Service Leadership Program meets or exceeds the standards established by the National Fire Academy-Fire and Emergency Services in Higher Education (FESHE) committee.

Additional Information
Students with prior, documented experience in fire studies may qualify for Advanced Standing credit toward this degree. Certified firefighters can receive college credit for TCFP, IFSAC, or ProBoard certifications in: - FIRT 1408 - Fire Inspector
- FIRT 1342 - Fire Officer I
- FIRT 1443 - Fire Officer II
- FIRT 2305 - Fire Instructor I
- FIRT 2307 - Fire Instructor II
- FIRT 2111 - Incident Safety Officer
- FIRT 2112 - Hazardous Material Incident Commander
To receive academic credit for transfer courses or advanced standing based on TCFP certifications, students must: - Be enrolled in one of the following degree programs:
- A.A.S. in Fire Service Leadership, or
- Fire Science / Firefighting with an Emphasis in Homeland Security
- Successfully complete a minimum of 12 semester hours of Fire Technology (FIRT) courses at San Antonio College.
Upon meeting these requirements and submitting the appropriate documentation, students may receive credit toward designated concentration or degree requirements. Milestone Course(s)
