The Associate of Arts in Art degree offers coursework that is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year university or art school to major or minor in Art, and will also benefit any student planning to pursue an art-related position, including:  independent studio artist, production artist, teacher, illustrator, photographer, museum or gallery employee, advertising arts, graphic designer, or arts administrator.  The coursework offered meets the recommended transfer curriculum of the Texas Association of Schools of Art (TASA).

Communication (10) Core (6 credit hours)


Additional Communication (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Additional Communication (11) Core 

Mathematics (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Mathematics (20) Core 

Natural Sciences (6 credit hours)


Select 2 courses from the Natural Sciences (30) Core 

Humanities (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Humanities (40) Core 

Additional Humanities (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Additional Humanities (41) Core 

Visual and Performing Arts (3 credit hours)


Select 1 course from the Visual and Performing Arts (50) Core

(ARTS 1303 or ARTS 1304 recommended for ART Majors)

History (6 credit hours)

Government (6 credit hours)
