Distance Learning

San Antonio College offers 200+ college credit online courses that meet the core curriculum requirements for an online Associate of Arts Degree and an online Associate of Applied Science Degree. Both online degrees are approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.  Online degrees and certificates offer maximum flexibility and convenience to students who work, and they also provide homebound students and others full access to higher education.  Please view a complete listing of Degrees and Certificates available online at San Antonio College.  Please visit our website for more information.

Online Courses

Online courses allow students to access 85 to 100 percent of the course by computer through the Internet. Course requirements vary. Students may be required to attend an on-campus or an on-line orientation on how to take an online course or come to campus to be proctored for testing. Online courses transfer the same and cost the same as on-campus courses.  Online courses are recommended for students who have a flexible work schedule or who live out-of-state or out-of-country.

Hybrid Courses

Hybrid courses are classes in which at least 50 to 85 percent of the course is taught online and 15 to 50 percent of the course is taught on campus.  Hybrid learning combines online learning with face-to-face learning in a traditional classroom.  Hybrid courses combine online and traditional teaching elements such as:

• Lectures
• Discussions
• Group Work
• In person activities on campus

Hybrid courses are recommended for students who have a flexible work schedule.

San Antonio College makes no distinction in the length or rigor of our classes and programs offered through Distance Education.  Expectations for the faculty and students remain the same as within our traditional coursework on campus.
