The certificate is the basis for the progression toward an Associate of Applied Science degree in Court Reporting.

COURT REPORTING IS A SKILLS-BASED COURSE. WECM AND STATE GUIDELINES REQUIRE BEGINNING THEORY AND PROGRESSING THROUGH SPEED CLASSES UNTIL THE EXIT SPEEDS OF LITERARY @ 180; JURY CHARGE @ 200; AND, TESTIMONY AT 225 WPM IS REACHED BY COMPLETING 2 MOCKS WITH 96% ACCURACY. THERE MAY BE REPETITIONS OF SPEED CLASSES UNTIL INDIVIDUAL SPEEDS ARE REACHED. CRTR 1191, 1291, AND 1391 ARE USED REPEATEDLY TO HELP STUDENTS PROGRESS THROUGH THOSE SPEEDS AND ARE THREE-PEAT EXEMPT ACCORDING TO WECM GUIDELINES. OUR MILESTONE CLASS IS A 30-HOUR INTERNSHIP CLASS.
