Early Childhood Studies, A.A.S.

This 60 credit hour degree is designed to train personnel for lead teacher jobs in the early education setting such as Early Head Start and nationally accredited early care and education centers. It also qualifies students to be teacher assistants in public schools and PreK4SA. Students may transfer to a B.A.A.S. degree.

Public School Teacher Assistant, Early Childhood Teacher (non-public school), Early Head Start and Head Start Teacher, Preschool Teacher (non-public school), Entry Level Child Family and Protective Services Specialist.

Additional Program Information
The program is designed to train personnel for jobs in the early education industry. Completion of the following curriculum entitles students to an AAS Degree in Early Childhood Studies. The AAS degree in Early Childhood Education at San Antonio College is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children; it was the first community college Early Childhood degree in Texas to receive this recognition.
Please note that in order to graduate with the AAS degree in Early Childhood Studies, students must pass or test out of MATH 0320 or MATH 1332 to be TSI compliant.
