American Sign Language Communicator, Level I Certificate

The Level I ASL Communicator Certificate prepares individuals to communicate between Deaf and hearing individuals. This certificate prepares individuals for employment to communicate with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities in a variety of settings. Employment within these settings include educational, retail, and administrative office settings.
With this award, you may seek jobs such as:
Communicate with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in various settings such as K-12, post-secondary and community settings.

The Level I ASL Communicator Certificate requires students to pass all nine classes listed above plus pass the mid-program evaluation.
The American Sign Language: Sign Language Interpreter, A.A.S. degree requires 65 semester hours of designated coursework and passing scores on the Texas Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Basic certification exam to earn a degree.
