Return to: Degrees & Certificates - by AlamoINSTITUTE The Court Reporting Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) Level 2 Certificate is a continuation of the Court Reporting: Transcriptionist/Scopist Level 1 Certificate. The Court Reporting Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) Level 2 Certificate prepares a Court Reporting Program student to use machine shorthand to capture speech at a speed of 225 words per minute and transcribe notes with 97% accuracy. The student is prepared to take the state-level CSR (Certified Shorthand Reporter) and the national-level RPR (Registered Professional Reporter) certification exams at the completion of the competencies. Upon passing the CSR, the student can: 1) work as an official Court Reporter in court or 2) can work as a freelance reporter (taking depositions) for a court reporting firm.
Continues with speedbuilding courses progressing from 60-100 WPM, CR Academic-Medical Court Reporting.
With this award, you may seek jobs such as:
Transcribing notes and scope for a working reporter. Upon passing the CSR exam, may work as a certified shorthand reporter.
