Firefighter / Basic, Level I Certificate

San Antonio College Fire Science degrees and certificates are part of the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certification process.  Prior to being appointed to fire suppression duties, personnel must complete a Commission-approved basic structure fire suppression program and successfully complete a Commission recognized emergency medical course.  Students may receive academic credit for successful completion of TCFP-approved basic firefighter certification courses.  Successful completion of this Level I Certificate allows students to take the TCFP structured exam.  Students must also successfully complete a commissioned recognized Emergency Medical course in order to receive the TCFP Basic Fire Suppression certification.

Completion of a comprehensive end-of-course exam, with a minimum passing score of 70% is required for TCFP certification.
